CARE Experienced Week is set to be celebrated in North Ayrshire.
The week runs from October 19 to 26 and celebrates care-experienced children and young people in Scotland.
Every year, during the last week of October, Scotland celebrates care experienced children and young people and the positive impact they have on their communities and this year it has the theme of 'Belonging and Connection.'
During the week, North Ayrshire Council and the Health and Social Care Partnership will showcase the work being done to uphold the commitments made in 'The Promise', Scotland's review of the care system.
Councillor Chloe Robertson, North Ayrshire’s young people’s champion, said: "As a council, we recognise that every child and young person deserves an equal opportunity to thrive.
"Care Experienced Week gives us an opportunity to reflect and celebrate the value and contribution made by care-experienced people not only here in North Ayrshire, but across Scotland and elsewhere."
As well as supporting national events, such as the Time to Shine Festival and the Love Rally 2024 in Glasgow city centre on October 26, a number of events will be held locally.
Several local events will also take place such as a Halloween-themed movie night will be held in Saltcoats for care-experienced young people and their families on Tuesday, October 22.
On Thursday, October 24, the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine will host a care-experienced celebration.
The purpose of the event is to celebrate the achievements of care-experienced young people and to highlight some great Corporate Parenting happening across North Ayrshire.
The evening will include a showcase of local achievements, including the work being done with the Champions Board, a group of care-experienced young people working to create change in the care system, as well as an on-stage discussion celebrating the achievements of the care-experienced young people.
