POLICE have launched an investigation after an alleged serious assault in Irvine town centre.
Officers were called to the Bank Street are of the town on Monday night, October 28 following reports of the incident.
A 42-year-old man was found injured at the scene and was later taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.
An eyewitness claimed that the alleged victim was attacked with a bottle.
A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Times: “Around 8.40pm on Monday, October 28, 2024, police received a report of the serious assault of a 42-year-old man in the Bank Street area of Irvine.
"The man was conveyed to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment and enquiries are ongoing.”
