A HOUSING support service in Irvine has been given a glowing review after a surprise visit from the Care Inspectorate.

The unannounced inspection of Housing First for Families took place over three days in September and evaluated various aspects of the service.

The service, which was registered with the watchdog in January 2022, was found to be 'very good' in all areas evaluated.

These areas include 'how well do we support people's wellbeing', 'how good is our leadership', 'how good is our staff team', and 'how well is our care and support planned'.

It provides support to families with children in the community who need help maintaining tenancies and improving their lifestyles.

The inspection report highlighted the "consistent management and staff team" and praised the "experienced and skilled support staff".

The report said: "The service’s approach emphasises involvement and respect for each person’s preferences and needs, positively impacting both short and long-term health outcomes."

The leadership of the service was also commended, with the report noting that "effective quality assurance measures and proactive feedback collection contribute to service improvements".

Staff were found to be experienced, well-vetted, and have access to ongoing training, which helps them foster supportive relationships with clients.

Their competence and dedication were said to have been evident in the positive client interactions and feedback.

The care planning was also found to be of a high standard, with the report stating: "The individualised support plans, risk assessments, and involvement of clients ensure that care aligns with their preferences and helps build trust and commitment."

The report recognised the positive impact the service has on the community, helping families maintain stable housing, foster healthier lifestyles, and develop sustainable routines.

The report also highlighted the importance of the consistent leadership and stable team, which have been in place since the service’s inception.

This consistency has contributed to the service’s strong reputation and reliability within the community.

The report concluded that the service received positive feedback from both clients and community professionals, emphasising the service’s role in supporting families, enhancing life stability, and fostering positive health and social outcomes.

One professional described the service as 'amazing,' while clients expressed appreciation for their support workers, emphasising that they feel heard and respected.

No complaints were upheld since the last inspection, indicating satisfaction with service standards and practices.
