A FUNDRAISER grieving the loss of her wife to cancer is set to pass through Ayrshire this weekend as part of a 5,000-mile charity trek around the UK.

Tracey Howe is walking the entire coastline of Britain following the sad passing of partner Angela White, who died from blood cancer last year at the age of 58.

The 60-year-old is aiming to raise £100,000 for the Beatson Cancer Charity, Marie Curie, Brainstrust, Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel.

Tracey set off from the Beatson in Glasgow on Friday and is set to arrive in Ayrshire on Sunday. 

She will walk from Wemyss Bay to Largs on Sunday, Largs to Kilwinning on Monday, and Kilwinning to Ayr on Tuesday.

Tracey will have a day off in Ayr on Wednesday, before resuming her journey from Ayr to Girvan on Thursday and Girvan to Ballantrae on Friday.

She will continue through Dumfries and Galloway before crossing the border at Gretna.

The retired professor plans to cover around 20 miles each day, walking six days a week to complete an anti-clockwise circuit of the mainland.

Tracey said: “Angela left a horrific gaping hole in my life when she passed away last September, aged just 58, but I want to turn my grief into a positive.

“The long walk, which I have called Tracey’s Trek, will be the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

“It will be tough mentally and physically but I think Angela would be proud of me.

“I am doing it for her and also to raise as much money as possible for charities that are close to my heart.”
