A FRONTLINE worker from Irvine has launched a fundraiser in his hopes of organising a charity event.

Dean Burnett, an ambulance care assistant who also DJs in his spare time, was approached by a police officer who saw an article the Scottish Ambulance Service had written about him.

The officer had an idea for a charity event but was unsure how to get it up and running. After Dean realised he had the right contacts to get the event off the ground, he took over the project's reins.

As a way of earning money outside the fundraiser, one of his colleagues is planning to run a race night, and his friends in the police and fire departments are trying to organise activities within their services.

He's currently waiting to hear back from a few venues, but is most interested in Barras Art and Design in Glasgow for a date in August 2025.

Dean said: “By next week and after payday, we’re hoping to clear what we're needing and once we get the deposit down everything can kick off from there because Cash4Kids absolutely love the idea.

"If we can just get this then we can kick off and it'll hopefully go massive.”

Various big names have shown enthusiasm for the event, such as DJs George Bowie, Garry Spence and Cassi from Radio Clyde.

Dean made these connections whilst DJing for 'Include Me To Club', an organisation that hosts various events for kids and adults with disabilities and Additional Support Needs (ASN).

Lots of Dean's connections have been made through his charity DJing (Image: Contributed) Cash4Kids was chosen as the charity supported by the event because of its importance in Glasgow and its connections to Clyde 1.

Any funds raised at the event through the sale of tickets and other means will also be donated to the charity.

Dean reveals that so far the reaction to the fundraiser has been extremely positive.

He said: “A lot of my colleagues and my family and friends love the idea, and said if they can get the time off work they’ll definitely be there.

"Everybody's been really positive and upbeat about it and saying well done, and it's been very positive since the get go.”
