AYRSHIRE'S Lord Lieutenant Iona McDonald opened the new Developing The Young Workforce (DYW) training academy in Kilwinning last week.
And guests at the opening ceremony in Kilwinning Academy were looked after by the DYW students, who will be learning barista, nail care and cycle maintenance skills.
The Lord Lieutenant was accompanied by her Cadet, Sergeant Liam Skilling.
The main aim of DYW is to support young people to find work through working with employers, education authorities and providing training.
The Lord Lieutenant said: "The latest academy at Kilwinning Academy encompasses these three links and provides a safe and supportive environment for young people with additional needs.
"It joins the ever-increasing number of similar academies throughout Ayrshire and is testimony to the hard work and dedication of all involved."
A Kilwinning Academy spokesperson said: "Barista, Nails and Cycle Maintenance pupils had a fantastic time at the DYW Ribbon event this afternoon. Thanks to all our special guests for coming along."
