AN IRVINE man has denied attacking another male with a pair of scissors days before Christmas.

Dylan Lansborough pleaded not guilty to a single charge of assault when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on November 5.

Court papers state that the alleged incident took place on December 23 last year and prosecutors claim Lansborough repeatedly struck the alleged victim with a pair of scissors or similar implement at his home address on Warrix Avenue - causing him severe injury.

His solicitor, Simon Brown, stated that he was ready for trial with a written defence statement and record lodged with the court. He is not expecting to call any defence witnesses.

Prosecutor Gemma McKechnie stated that the Crown are expecting to call up to 12 witnesses for the case.

The procurator fiscal depute added that all of those who could be called were engaged and available on the identified trial date.

She also stated that Lansborough has no other matters outstanding at this stage.

Sheriff Murdoch Mactaggart continued the case to trial, which will take place in the new year. Lansborough was granted bail meantime.
