TWO people have been taken to hospital following a crash on the A78 road in Irvine.

A woman and child were rushed to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment following the incident which police say took place around the Warrix roundabout shortly after 9am on Thursday, November 14.

Two vehicles are reported to have been involved in the accident with lane restrictions currently in place while emergency services respond to the matter.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.20am on Thursday, November 14, 2024, we received a report of a crash involving two vehicles on A78 Warrix roundabout.

"A woman and a child were taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.

"Lane restrictions are in place."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene, with four appliances sent to the area following reports of a car in a ditch.

A spokesperson added: “We were alerted at 9.16am on Thursday, November 14, to reports of a car in a ditch at the A78 between Kilwinning and Irvine.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and firefighters assisted emergency partners at a collision involving two vehicles.

“Two casualties were in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
