THE owners of a popular Irvine food spot have announced plans to close.
Mother and daughter duo, Robin and Rosie Weideger, have confirmed this week that Taste of New Mexico will be shutting up shop next month.
The final day of service at the Eglinton Street business will be Monday, December 23, before the pair step aside to "pursue new adventures".
The move will bring to an end an incredible period for the pair who have been serving the people of the town for the past five years.
Robin and Rosie initially operated the business from a van at an industrial estate before securing a spot at the harbourside. They then moved to their current home around two years ago.
In that time, the duo have more than delivered on their mission of providing the unique food of New Mexico to the area.
The idea was born by combining passions of the mother and daughter duo. Mum Robin was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico - developing a love for the culture and amazing food.
Rosie was born and raised in Ayrshire, though always had a passion for cooking which led her to study hospitality. Rosie is the head chef of Taste of New Mexico.
Announcing their plans to step aside, Robin said it was not a decision which was easy to make.
She said: "Life is changing for us. Rosie and I have decided to pursue new adventures.
"The past five years have been some of the happiest moments of our lives. From working down Irvine Harbour in our van to where we are now! We are so thankful for all of the support we’ve received over the years. Each and every one of you mean so much to us.
"We cannot put into words how much fun we have had on this adventure. Please know this choice has not come easy.
"We are not going because it didn't work, because it did. It worked amazingly. Serving you all from our home brought us freedom and joy. But we have decided that it’s time to move on. From the bottom of our heavy hearts, we will miss you all dearly."
