NEW Kilwinning Rangers signings Michael Morris and Lewis Morrison have high hopes of helping the club survive in the top flight after helping rack up their sixth win out of seven.
Former Clydebank and Fauldhouse centre half Morris (27) played a key role in the 3-2 win at Pollok on Saturday and said: "Kilwinning are a massive club and I know the standard in the Premier Division after playing there with Clydebank. The target is to stay in the league, play every week and play a part in the gaffer's plans. I wasn't surprised with the win on Saturday as the intensity in the first half was excellent, they couldn't live with us. We must aim to take three points at home to Hurlford on Saturday."
Hometown boy Lewis (18), on loan from Kilmarnock, scored his first goal for the club at Newlandsfield and said: "I have suffered with ankle ligament injuries and illnesses in the second half of the season and Chris Strain, the manager said he could bring me here to play. I am also from Kilwinning and that's what attracted me. It was a great result on Saturday and I was pleased with my goal, it was a good strike. Our target is to win every game and stay up. If we beat Hurlford they are in trouble as well."
Strain was impressed with the result and said: "We were well worth the win, we blew Pollok away in the first half and they came back a bit but one of their goals was a dodgy penalty."
The boss is expecting a tough test against Hurlford and said: "They have good players like Stewart Kean, Ross Robertson and Chris Robertson. The game carries added significance given where we are in the league. We are at home and looking to win. If we win on Saturday, it will be a rat race to see who survives."
Tommy Maitland (ankle injury) is doubtful but everyone else should be fit.
Meanwhile Irvine Meadow co-manager Michael Wardrope and midfielder Ben Carson were impressed with their team's display as they stayed in contention for promotion with a 3-0 home win against Shettleston.
Wardrope said: "It was great to have a clean sheet and we dominated the game. We have won five of the last six games and are in a good position. Now we must aim to take three points away to Yoker on Saturday. We played Clydebank there a few weeks ago and won 1-0 so hopefully we can do it again."
Carson, who scored a double added: "It was good to bounce back after the Irvine Vics defeat and great to score a couple of goals. We have eight games left and must keep winning."
Meadow on Monday signed young goalkeeper Scott Purdie from Bonnyton Thistle Under-20s.
