IMPRESSIVE Killie are unbeaten against Rangers in the Premiership so far this season after holding Steven Gerrard’s side at Ibrox on Saturday.
They had previously taken four points of six against the men from Govan and went into this game with confidence, having defeated St Mirren away the previous Monday to end what was a disappointing run.
Following a low-key opening in 20 minutes, home goalie Allan McGregor was booked for rushing from his goal to the centre circle to fire up his team.
However three minutes later, Killie went ahead with was a well-worked goal. Midfielder Gary Dicker sent a long pass over the home defence. Loan signing Conor McAleny won the ball and took it in to the area. Because McGregor was on a booking, he made no challenge and the Fleetwood Town player stayed composed before rolling the ball into the net.
In 65 minutes Alfredo Morelos easily beat Stuart Findlay and sent home a powerful shot.
Late on home player Connor Goldson was surprisingly not red-carded for a wild challenge on Liam Miller.Killie boss Steve Clarke was encouraged and said: “We’d have taken the point before we came. The big chance we had just before half-time was probably a crucial moment.”
