COLIN SPENCE has revealed that a deal for a new Irvine Meadow goalkeeper is near completion.
Shaun Newman left the North Ayrshire side to move to England to start a new life.
And the club are hopeful to tie up a new No.1 in the coming days.
Spence said: “Our goalkeeper has moved on down south, so at this moment we’re keeper-less.
“At the moment we’re working really hard to bring in a goalkeeper. We’re close with one but it’s not a done deal yet. It will probably be next week before there’s any news on that being done and dusted.
“It might be something that could help us, if some of the players aren’t going to get the game time they want at those clubs.
“The loan market can be helpful and it is something we could look at it.
“To be honest though, once we get a goalie in I think it’ll just be a case of one more player in the door, but they would need to be very good as we’re chuffed with the shape of the squad as things stand.
“He would need to be coming straight into the team, and be better than what we’ve got in the building."
