Irvine Running Club saw several of their members competing at the Allan Scally Road Relays at the weekend.
The competition consisted of teams of four all running the same 5K loop around Glasgow Green.
Irvine had five teams competing, three men’s and two women’s teams.
First off for the men’s ‘A’ team was Steve Daye who had a great first leg run where he handed over in 22nd place in a new personal best and fastest Irvine time of 15 minutes and 57 seconds.
Owen McWilliams then took over and although he lost a few places posted a reasonable time of 18:33 before handing over to Evan Clark.
In Evan’s first competitive race for the club and he managed to take a few places back and handed over with a time of 17:54 which was the third fastest Irvine time.
Craig Houston was on the anchor leg and he finished in a time of 17:12, which was second fastest Irvine time, and brought the team home in 30th place.
The men’s ‘B’ team finished in 66th place and consisted of Mark Sands (18:52), Scott Brown (18:37), Graeme McFarlane (20:14) and Steve Mcdougall (19:42).
The men’s ‘C’ team finished in 88th place and were Stuart Moffat (21:12), Colin Miller (21:02), Jim Sneddon (21:27) and Mark Sands running a second leg (20:03).
The women’s ‘A’ team had Jennie Jackson leading off and she posted the fastest Irvine women’s time of 22:16 and handed over in 117th position.
Joyce Stewart took over and had a steady run to finish in 27:26 and hand over to Liz Duncan who posted the second fastest Irvine time of 25:08.
Susan Rhodes ran the final leg and posted the third fastest Irvine time of 25:18 to bring the team in at 120th position.
The ladies ‘B’ team finished in 123rd place and consisted of Amy Rhodes (28:57), Amantha Alderson (35:22), Claire Porteous (29:15) and Layna Thompson (31:41).
In addition to the Irvine teams, club member Michael Rimicans was competing for Edinburgh University Hare and Hounds in the Scottish Universities championships and posted a time of 15:50 and helped her team to the silver medal.
