IRVINE Meadow have been relegated from the West of Scotland Football League (WoSFL) Premier Division.
Ben Carson's side had their fate sealed on Saturday, April 20, following a 1-0 loss at the hands of Largs Thistle.
It was Will Sewell who notched the winning goal in the match, converting a spot kick which was conceded by his twin brother and former teammate George.
The Meadow Park side were unable to find a way back into the match, meaning they can no longer escape from the league's three relegation places.
It caps a tough season for Meadow who have lost 20 of their 26 games so far this season, with just three wins and three draws on their record.
With only four league matches remaining it is now a case of looking ahead to next season, where the aim will be rebuilding, and attempting to gain promotion back to the top flight.
It will be a challenging task for Medda and despite the disappointment of the weekend fans have vowed to continue to back the players.
One commented: "Now is the time for the community to get behind the club as they prepare for next season, because getting back isn’t going to be a given.
"To Ben and his staff - thank you for your efforts and hopefully preparations get under way for next season and the push for promotion.
"To the players - keep your heads up guys. Teams have been relegated before, it’s done with.
"All you can do is make sure these last few games that we end the season with the mindset that we go down fighting for every point and taking the proper mindset into the new season.
"To the committee, a thank you to everyone that’s involved behind the scenes. Only you know the hard work that’s involved in running this club. Here’s to next season."
Defender George Sewell added: "Gutted for everyone involved. We’ll go again. From the kit woman to the gaffer, we all go together."
Of Medda's last four games, the next three are all away from home, with trips to Junior Cup finalists Arthurlie (Wednesday, April 24, KO 6.45pm) and Darvel (Saturday, May 4), either side of a journey to Guy's Meadow to face a Rob Roy side still battling for survival on Saturday, April 27.
Medda's season ends at home to Hurlford on Saturday, May 11.
