AYRSHIRE'S rugby union sides have continued to thrive after another action packed weekend of league action across the county.
Saturday, September 21 saw a number of local sides competing as the season continued at a pace up and down the divisions.
In the top league, the National Premiership, Ayr RFC continued their perfect start to the season and still hold top spot.
They made it four wins from four at the weekend as they came back from a half-time deficit to defeat Selkirk 33-12 away from home.
Unfortunately, Ayrshire's other top division side did not quite have the same fortunes.
Marr RFC slipped to their second defeat of the season on Saturday, losing out 36-14 away to Heriot's Rugby Men.
The Troon side currently sit third from bottom in the league table - though there is still plenty rugby to be played.
Into the National League Division Three and Garnock RFC have continued to take to life in the league well after their promotion last season.
They remain unbeaten after three matches and picked up a bonus point win on Saturday as they defeated Cartha Queens Park RFC 62-29. The win moves them into second place in the standings.
In the final national league, Division Four, Ardrossan Accies kept their remarkable league winning run going.
After winning all of their fixtures on the way to promotion last year, that form has carried on into this season.
They made it three from three in their new league with a resounding 88-12 victory at home to North Berwick this weekend.
They sit in second place in the standings just one point behind early leaders Strathmore.
Into the regional leagues and in West Division One, it is Kilmarnock RFC who lead the way after making it five bonus point wins from five at the weekend.
They are the only unbeaten side in the division after an impressive 46-7 win away at East Kilbride RFC on Saturday.
The league's other Ayrshire side, Cumnock RFC, have continued in their struggle for consistency so far.
They have won just one of their first five fixtures, and suffered their fourth loss this weekend as they fell to a 29-19 defeat away at Annan RFC.
In Division Two, Carrick RFC have continued to pile the pressure on early league leaders Strathendrick RFC.
The early pace-setters are perfect thus far, but the Maybole side are just four points back after winning four and losing one of their opening five matches.
Carrick were impressive at the weekend as they ran out 45-3 winners at home to Clydebank RFC.
However, fortunes did not quite favour the league's other Ayrshire outfit Irvine RFC.
After their promotion last season, it has been a steady start for Irvine in their new division as they sit in the middle of the pack.
However, they were unable to propel themselves further up the table after suffering a 65-19 loss away to Wigtownshire RFC on Saturday.
Into the women's leagues and Ayr RFC's struggles to start the campaign have continued.
The side are currently winless and prop up the table after a narrow 28-12 loss away to Hillhead Jordanhill 2XV on Sunday, September 22.
In Division Two, Irvine ladies fell off the pace at the weekend after suffering their first defeat of the season, losing 57-19 away to Bishopton.
It was a good weekend for Marr RFC in Division Three, after they picked up a 26-12 win over Greenock Wanderers Wasps - moving them up to second place in the league standings.
